I'll be there with Brandon...
I don't think there was any other agenda on Peter's and Lee's minds when they decided to let us all come into their store and have a meeting/party whatever it's called now.
He's been reading that a lot of us lost a lot of stuff in our tanks if not everything and are feeling kind of down and wondering if we'll even continue with the hobby. For those of you who've not been to his store, it's a really cool layout. Big open room, tanks on one wall, big screen TV on another wall, stereo system, Karaoke machine, etc etc...he didn't have to offer us the use of his place, but he did, this is his "home". He may not feel comfortable having all of us come to his personal abode, but this is his home away from home.
I'm sure that if people want to buy stuff, then that can be discussed. We've all bought stuff at other people's meetings and/or traded and given away stuff to. That comes along with being in the hobby and being around other people in the hobby. If you feel pressured into buying something you don't want to buy or for a price higher than you think it should be, all you have to say is, "No."
I for one think it's a great opportunity for us to get together, trade war stories as Peter has some of his own from posts I've read by Custom Reefs (they lost stuff too, remember) and for us to have a good time, drinking, not drinking, eating what have you....
I for one am going.
Hope to see a lot of you there!

Thank you for everyones comments. First let me start by saying that this is in no way an approach to gain anyones buisness. As some may know, Peter is a hobbyist more than a salesperson. Peter and I had talked about this idea a couple of months ago. This would be a social gathering with a party atmosphere, nothing to do with the buisness. Peter and I have both had conflicting schedules and agreed not to attend any meeting unless we could both make it. That is the only reason we have not attended a metting yet. And as for Terry's comment, have you ever tried to squeeze 20 + people into a 450 sq foot apartment. I dont think it would be pretty Terry.
Some of you may not attend for various reasons, but for those that do, you can share the experience with them.
I hope everyone can attend. We have decided on a concrete date of Saturday Oct. 23rd .
Can someone make this into an announcement ?
Thank You,
Lee

I have been looking around at the Atlanta Reef Club, Baton Rouge Reef Club, the reef club in north Alabama and a few others that I can't think of right now. All of the clubs except the one in Baton Rouge has had or always has meetings at their LFS's. These seem to be just like meetings at members homes with frag trading and all. There doesn't seem to be any business at their meetings other than what the members want or if they have some sort of fragging seminar. I am sure at one time these others have struggled with the same problem but let's try it and if it doesn't work out we will know in the future that we need to restrict our meeting places.
I sincerly hope that all try to make it. We haven't had too may meetings where there was a great turn out since last spring because of scheduling conflicts. I think that I will just be coming back into town the Friday before from a training class and I am planning on it.

Here is another map that has driving directions from Milton:MAP
The ideal thing for you to do is to get together with Daniel, Chad, Drew and some of the other guys from Pensacola and car pool or drive this way and carpool with someone from Baldwin county or Mobile. I would offer but I never know if I can get to the meetings until the last minute.

Well, I said I was going to be there, but that was when the meeting was scheduled for the weekend of the 16th, I can't make it to the 23rd meeting, as I have a wedding to attend. As does Brandon....
Sorry.
Sorry.

The only date options would be this weekend the 9th wich is pretty close or Sat the 30th, which many may have plans for halloween parties. Its really open to suggestion and when it would be most convient for as many people as possible to attend. Why not put it up for a vote to see. We would start the meeting at 7pm.
Thanks,
Lee
