Group Buy? - Polypropylene Filter Bags

Post by KrazyPlace »

One of my vendors at work has offered to custom make me some polypropylene filter bags for my aquarium at a really good price. The minimum order is 50 and the cost is around $2.25 ea.

If anyone is interested, let me know. We can specify the micron size (1, 2, 5, 10, etc.) and the length (32, 20, 18, etc.). We can get a support ring at the top made of stainless steal or not (I prefer no support ring), and it will come with a strap.

I don't know what you guys use, so let me know what you want. I would like a 18-20" length, no support ring, and a strap. I have attached a picture of a similar bag. I can have the bags within a few days. All bags must be the same. Let me know!

Is there an option for a nylon/plastic support ring? I don't want to pay big bucks for a stainless support ring, but the bags I currently use are 18", plastic support ring, single strap, 100 micron bags. I'd be interested in buying a batch.

I was talking to Scott on the phone and he was about to purchase some so he may be interested.

Josh - I think the estimate price of $2.25 ea. that she quoted me included a stainless steel ring, 32" length, and a 1-micron nominal retention pore. I don't think the support ring is necessary though. I've sent her an inquiry about the 100-micron size. I'll get a firm price, but it will most likely go down, not up because of the shorter length and the larger micron size. How many would you take if we decide to order? I think I only need 5-10 bags.

Yeah, put me down for 10, as long as they's ~$3 or less.

I will pass, too hard for me to get to mine to clean them. I do not use them anymore.

That's what I use it for at work. At 100 micron, you will need to make sure you wash it good though. You ned 10 micron to catch the carbon dust.

Also keep in mind that for carbon flow-through, you need to be using CLEAN water, otherwise the bag would get nasty, quick :) you'd be AMAZED how much crud a 100 micron bag will catch in what "looks like" clean water.
