Things that you just have to have for reefkeeping

Post by snoopdog »

Tricks of the trade you may call it, i just thought this thread could be of great interest for some of us that are set in our reefkeeping ways. For me the things i must have are

Plumbers silicon (non-drying type like divers use)
Epoxy
Old Drivers License
Turkey Baster....just fell in love with this toy
Hand held pipe cutter (can not think of proper name)
Forceps
Bucket lids...how did i ever make it without these.

White vinegar removes calcium / coralline algae like no ones business ! It is the only way to clean old reef tank parts without hard work.

Adding forceps to my list.

Everyone's favorite instrument, the turkey baster!!!!!

old supersize kittylitter buckets... it's like a 5 gallon bucket, but has an attached hinged lid, and they're stackable, great for storing and kind of fresh or salt water, or kalkwasser.

And the one thing I can't live without right now, a Kennmore 70 pint dehumidifier (I empty it once or twice a day).

God that much water sucked out a day. That is too much like work.....add 2 gallons to the tanks....remove two gallons from the dehumidifier.

Not really. Alot of people can do this slower and either trade out or get alot of stuff cheap knowing where to look. Good decision making is also the key, i have wasted most of my money the first two years making bad decisions on gear and over paying not knowing where to get the good deals. Hopefully my bad decision making is over in this hobby. I am also not buying anymore full colonies of anything and just doing frags.
