Dipping Zoas & polys
I need a lesson on this subject. My LFS sells nothing to do this and I no I need to be doing this. Is their something I can mix up at home to do this, if so how do I make it,and go about dipping my frags. I never really thought about it much seeing that I bought frags from people that knew what they were doing. I got a frag in a few weeks ago from this guy, and the frag had little bugs and what I think was a flat worm on it. I had nothing to dip the frag with, so I mixed some tank water with some Hydrogen peroxide and dipped the frag in there and put it in the QT tank and dipped it for the next three days. I think I got all the nasties off the frag and the frag appears to be doing alright. But, I know I should be using something else to dip the frags. Any Ideas.

An iodine solution is commonly used, never heard of using hydrogen peroxide.

Looks like another iodine supplement, like Lugol's.

Actually, it is different. It is based upon pine extract. It has proven to be very effective against flatworms--I've tried it at the shop and it stops them in their tracks. Doesn't stop red bugs, though.Neuticle wrote:strout wrote:I have a friend that is sending me something called Revive, supposed to be good.

So, what do you use for Red bugs ??
Re: Dipping Zoas & polys
About the only thing I've ever seen used was interceptor. You have to get it from a vet.

I don't have a problem in my tank and want to keep it that way but I want to be prepaired just in case.

Re: Dipping Zoas & polys
Do you have any Acropora? If not, then no need to worry about redbugs, since that is all they parasitize. I didn't mean to imply that they get on zoas--I was just trying to keep from sounding like TLF's Revive was a cure-all.strout wrote:I don't have a problem in my tank and want to keep it that way but I want to be prepaired just in case.

No acroporas, just zoas and polys.
