crash

Post by jdmorgan20fan »

I have learned from 2 crashes that it will happen, you just learn from it and have to deal with it. I hate having a favorite coral or fish becuase it is the one that dies. In my 47 bowfront, I must have not aerated my saltwater enough and the next morning my scopas tang, firefish goby, 2 cleaner shrimp and 3 peppermint shrimp. It hurt but luckily my clownfish, engineer goby and bangaii cardinal survived. They were close to death. It didn't affect the coral at all. Another lesson learned. Now i'm ready for more fish. The first time, a sea cucumber got sucked up in my filter and it was the biggest mess and i swore for 2 months that i wouldn't and couldn't do this again. Now i have 2 aquariums that i can barely afford but its a hobby that is hard to quit. My friends laugh at me becuase i will sit in front of my aquarium and stare at it or just walk in to my apartment and zone off to my aquarium and play with it.

Smaller tanks have a higher propensity to crash than larger systems. My first system, which i have now is 55gal display with 35 gal sump and has never crashed; go for a larger system with a sump next time.

I will be upgrading to a 120 gal oceanic this month. My 55 gal and sump, stand and canopy will be for sale at a resonable price. the 55 is about 6 months old, drilled in the back for an overflow.

Sorry to hear that man :( Let me know when you are going to restock. I am debating selling my entire 75 setup but at the very least i will have a bunch of frags to sell. Any idea what made it crash?
