Couple of pics
Just trying to get a few decent pics...here are a couple that came out ok. The second one is actually a pretty lavender color, and becoming more colorful every day. The first is actually two frags from the same colony, the one behind is a bright chartruse (sp) color. The one in front is growing up over the danae, gonna have to do something about that.

I'm in the same boat scott. We went in on a camera together. I only touched it once since we have had it. Maybe this week I'll get on it. The above pictures look good. I took one shot right out of the box and it looked really bad. I got a Canon Powershoot A610. Good reviews all around. Those pictures are making me miss the SPS already.
Setting the white balance for a correct color seems to be my biggest problem. Rommel told me when I first got my camera (nikon coolpix 5900) to use a 1ply sheet of toilet paper to set it. It worked really well and the colors were really close, but sometimes it just doesn't seem to work and I get a decent color with the shade setting.
That's the only real issue I have with mine, does yours have a macro setting? That helps with the close shots. But you have to be steady, a tripod would definately help.

LOL no, I never set my white balance that way, sure it works for normal shots.sb1227 wrote:Setting the white balance for a correct color seems to be my biggest problem. When you set your white balance point the lense at the tank maybe 4 inches away and then take your white balance measurement.

Ok, Ok....I tried that point it at the tank thing many times, even tried white paper like the nice book recommended
And it never would do the color right. I think I was complaining about it when Rommel suggested the tp trick and it actually worked. I think I just put it up close to the tank so the light hit it and did the measure. It's kind of iffy too though. Scott, I hope you have better luck with the white balance thing than me.....
Thanks Andy, for the compliment. You know, that acro in the third pic (the little green/cream colored one) has been in my tank about a year and a half. Talk about slow growth.....that little guy really wins the prize on that.
