Ok, is that dog ALL Newfoundland? Or does he just have a ton of it in him? Newfies are one of my favorite dogs. Does he do ok with the heat? And he is a good-lookin fella!

He's 100% newf...We've been asked that before, as I guess a lot of people don't realize they are other colors besides solid black, there are black, brown, greys, landseer's and variations with white added. And he doesn't care much for the heat. He's part time bear rug and part time foot-stool inside. He's strictly an inside dog for now. When it gets cooler we will let him stay outside some, but he will be able to get into the basement via a doggie door, it's pretty cool in there year-round and I put a window unit in there for him for warmer days. But he will always be a mostly inside dog in this climate

I had no idea they came in different colors other than black either. Big surprise when we started researching the breed. His dad is black and has a white chest and his mom is solid black. There was a female puppy who was brown and had white paws Brown and white is not recognized by the AKC as an official color of a newf, but it's possible to have one with those colors and there's nothing wrong with the dog at all.
