I'm just curious how they are doing in your tanks. My small colony seems to be receding at the top. I think they were getting too much light. I moved them into more shade yesterday and they are twice as big as they have been in the past 2 months. I'm still getting new heads on the under side of the rock that I have to figure out how to frag off.
Funny you asked that, just found it yesterday. It got lost in a sand storm a few weeks ago when the seio dropped. But it has risen it's beautiful little head back up. Do you remember the tri frag on the round mounting rock? Well I will try and get a pic later on for you.
I need to get by and see what all you have now adays and maybe get a little frag of something for that tank deal. Nothing special but something different. I put myself on restriction and can not buy anything until december. I can only trade frags.
I'm not sure what tri frag you were talking about.
Mine isn't growing too fast either. Other then the ones that are receding on the top becuase of the light i have about 8 on the under side of the rock that are about the size of a pencil eraser.
From what I have read the Blastomussa wellsi are very slow growers. The frag I got from Drew had a small polyp on the side and it has maybe doubled in size (from about 1/8" to 1/4").
the odd thing is the one i gave to karen and billy was not even a full head when i fragged off scott's. It was just a little sliver that i thought oh what the hell i'll glue it to a rock and see what happens. If filled in in no time and started to grow. I just fragged one that was a little smaller then an eraser. I'm curious how long it will take to grow out to even just the size of a dime.
it probably looks 10x better then the main colony i broke off of that plug. Mine has turned almost all brown and just has a slight blue on the tips of a few branches. I don't know whats wrong because about 6 inches away is my ORA tort frag that is purple with green polyps.
you want the entire colony for that nub? I guess it has something to do with my lighting or maybe even the red bugs? I have new bulbs coming this week and with the addition of the T5's hopefully i can get that kind of color.
