WTB: float valve
I need to start keeping the water level in my 10G tank at work a little more constant... I need a float valve, Kent, offbrand, doesn't matter. Anyone got one they'd let go for cheap?

Here is a picture of the float valves that Grainger has. They use the 1/4" plastic tubing, like on the RO units. They are 12" long but the metal can be bent to a shorter length. The best thing about them is they were only 3.70 plus tax. If anyone needs any they will have to order some more of them. Here is the part number 2X768

there's no brass contacting the "clean water side" on the RO/DI unit. The faucet adapter is brass, but it's dirty water anyway.
The brass on the floatvalve there "might" be OK, because it's freshwater, and as long as it's above the waterline on the aquarium, it doesn't come into contact with saltwater (doesn't corrode as much).

stay with plastic----- yes with all ro units you can get the piercing thing to go in to copper pipes and yes it will take out some copper but when you put in a float valve either copper or brass i wouldnt do it
try to take it back and spend a few more bucks and get an all plastic unit
heck it may be an easy task to clean a plastic unit then a brass one and you will not have corrosion on it
