Melting Algae

Last night my tank looked foggy so I started looking for the problem and I found that just about all of my Cup algae had melted in my sump. I got it all out, and added some carbon, and I notice that all of my red slime algae was gone too. Just a day or two ago I had a lot of red algae in my sump. I just can't believe that the red algae can go away so fast. Now I just have a lot of hair algae in my tank because my tang died on me awhile back. I notice earlier this week that my fairy wrasse had gone missing too. Maybe the two week water changes have finally put the red algae in check.

Sounds like a lot going on...I would suggest some good water test...what are your readings?

I checked my nitrate=0 and my ph=8.2 I didn't check anything else.

All of the other algae in my tank is doing fine. I think the cup just went A-sexual. Or that urchin did some damage to it.

Wow, first local report I've heard of cup going sexual... I even had a light out over my refuge for a few days, and the stuff was still going strong

I did let it get too thick this time. I had to go out of town for a few days and I didn't want to mess with it before I left. I think it might have gotten too thick. Everything else seems to be doing fine.

Definitely the macroalgae went sexual.
