its comon for shrimp and crabs to molt when changing the environment, or even after a water change, its due to the iodine content in the water

Much practice young grasshopper. You just have to experiment with the lighting and and your camera settings. What type of camera are you using?

As far as blurring, a tripod is your friend. I cannot take clear pictures without a tripod.

I am using a kodak 3.1 easy share digital camera. i will have to try the tripod. Its just weird because if i were to take a pic of the whole tank everything outside the tank would be clear but everything inside the tank would blurry. who knows i guess i will just keep trying. thanks

There are lots of little tricks that you have to learn. I am a really poor picture taker but I have gotten better and I only use a 2 megapixel camera. One thing is using the timer along with a tripod. Another that I have not tried is using a coffee filter to set the white balance (this helps getting true color rendition). Also only use the optical zoom. A lot of the pictures that you see here are from expensive cameras or using filters/lenses.
Wanted: to set up a tank again.
