Looking back i think i killed a few clams listening to other people talk about the clams mantle attaching. Since none of mine ever attached i was constantly moving them around sometimes on the rock. Now i am a believer on just letting them be and they will go where they want and attach when they want to.

Is that a Squamosa?
I don't think the clams that grow larger attach as easily, they tend to have a smaller byssal gland and use their weight to keep them in place. My Derasa is attached to a small rock that doesn't do much. My Squamosa won't attach to anything, and there is a shell under him he could attach to, his threads just sorta hang there. The Crocea dropped his foot on the way home, but grew a new one and attached in no time whatsoever to a shell.

Was that the clam in Rich's tank that was in the right hand bottom corner? It was beautiful!
