Cleaning filter socks?

Post by Scott »

I know this has been posted before, but I think a few more people use these things now and want some different input. So, how do you clean you filter socks?

Was cleaning them in the sink.. Would still be brown. The last time, I turned them inside-outwards and threw two of them in the washing machine with a towel, set the machine for a small load and hot water all around. I did not put any detergent or anything in there.. but they came out white.

High pressure on the hose outside does pretty good.

I have washed them out in the sink and let them soak. I am trying to get a few before I put them in the washer. Does anyone put bleach or anything in the washer with them? Do you soak them in RO water after you wash them?

We wash ours in the washing machine on HOT water...nothing added...we let them completely air dry before using them again...so there is no tap water left in them. So far so good. Been using the washer for about 4 months now. Hope this helps!

I didn't use bleach, figured I would try it without. They came so clean in the hot water, I don't think you will need it. I did rinse mine with RO water. I don't know if it is necessary or not, since I don't usually use them until a couple of days later. It's great having enough of them to not worry about it now... Thanks Krazy Place for doing that deal.
