Oceanic Salt

Post by Scott »

Has anyone used the new Oceanic salt? I looked around a couple of places in Mobile yesterday. Petsmart has the 90 gallon mix for $26.00 and B&B has it for $49.99 on sale for $39.99  . I need salt and I wouldn't mind trying it if I knew that someone else has used it with good results.

It has great reviews on RC. I am switching as soon as I am done with my 1/4 bucket left of Reef Crystals. I heard it mixes great and has better calcium and alkalinity mixture than any other salt.

Mike has used it I think, hopefully he can chime in and give you some more details on this salt.

Good Luck.

I was kind of hoping he would, along with the price. RC was the only reason I even though about trying the stuff. I have always heard that any salt mix that disolves easily was also low in Mg. That was one of my concerns.

I would change in a heartbeat, plus my LFS can give me a better price with Oceanic rather than Reef Crystals.

I want to say I thought I heard Mike recently post that all he was using now was Oceanic.... Maybe I am wrong?

You are absolutely correct AmyJoe. He said to me at the last meeting, "Oceanic Salt is the only salt I will use from now on."

I have been using IO for so long i will stick with them. You can't teach an old dog new tricks, and i am old.

I have been considering switching to Morton's Salt with Iodide. It is very cheap and I can get it in large bags from Winn Dixie. Still running a few water test.

Sure Terry, make sure you keep everyone updated how the salt change goes. It is much cheaper!

Well, I can say this much, Mike is saying very little about this salt on here, I was in the store today and he even convinced me to start using it (once I finish off my other bucket of stuff). He made some very very key points.... If I didnt know any better I would say he works for Oceanic

I have heard good things about it and will probably switch. They only sell the 90 gallon containers here in Mobile. I will probably switch soon too.
