wow... looking good.. any ideas on what your going to do with the stand? are you going to put doors on it? or just leave it open as it is? also where did you get them filter shocks at? love the setup... keep posting pics... later

The stand is gonna get large doors (still working on those) and will be fully enclosed... the filter socks came from ereeftank.com I just recently made a 10 item order for Terry and myself... they're only $4 each, but you have to order quite a few to make it worth the $9 shipping... they're worth their weight in gold... especially since they don't weigh much!

OK, here's some pictorial updates... the tank is circulating water,
but I need to rebuild the spraybars so that they reach lower, and
I still need to cut the overflows even more... the water is still
contacting the two center braces, and that just ain't gonna work.
I'm waiting on the MH ballasts, which will be here on Monday or
Tuesday. Hopefully I'll sell enough sand tonight at the meeting,
that I'll have $$ to order the rest of the VHO setup... I still have
to build the canopy frame, and I have to get doors for the stand
and for the canopy. After that, I'll be pretty much done, aside
from some extra rock maybe, and some livestock. You can see
the black urchin I got from Jeff, living happily in the refuge. The
grape calurpa that I got from Kevin didn't make the move, it
looks like.... I have a lot of feather calurpa that's growing like
CRAZY, and I have a wad/ball of dark green tendrilly stuff (not
sure what that is, but growing well too). I have worms GALORE
too, wow. The heater seems to be doing it's job, it keeps the
water within 1/2 degree of 80, where I keep it. The filter
socks ROCK, those are mandatory for any reef aquarium, I'm
sure of it. Um, I think that's about it... OH, isn't that 130 lbs.
of rock pitiful? This tank could swallow 300-400 lbs. of rock, and
you wouldn't know it... I have another 90 lbs. that I'm moving from
the 100G setup when the lighting is in.

Josh, I have about 130 lbs of rock in my 65G, 29G, and a 1/4 full 29G sump. All my tanks are full of rock. I think your tank is too big! What you need is a big boat that you can sink and fill it up. Maybe a blacktip shark from Dauphin Island too!

The lights are here! I have a headache from the light...
when I fired them, the room got brighter and brighter, I
couldn't stand them very long. I can't wait until all the
doors get here, so I can run them. Don't you love my
"frankenstien" ballast setup? They're all mounted to
a 2x4. Should the coils/brackets be grounded or no?
My last set of MH's (over the 100G) wasn't, but I feel
like they should be. Check out the cool assembly
on the canopy, used "pocket hole joinery", using a small
premade jig you buy at Lowes... good stuff!

The hood looks great...you are handier than me...Yes I would run a ground to the metal strap. Those are 20k right. Need shop of them sitting on the tank.

I'm staining the canopy frame... while it's off, I re-did the
spraybars. In the plumbing section, they have these neat
schedule 80 couplings in all lengths, I chose a 3" coupling,
then we found these cool black elbows in the sprinkler
section... voila! The water flow is outstanding, especially
since I turned the pumps up full blast. Here's a couple
of pics of the nozzles, and I took a short movie of the
water flow on the surface... yes, the water level is still
too high, I'm gonna have to cut my overflows further.

awh. It is quite amazing what Lowe's carries that will work! heh I think the only thing left to do really...is put the doors on!!! Waiting on the VHO stuff. I cant wait!!
