Need 15-20 gal tank
I need a 15 or 20 gallon tank, if possible. Dimensions aren't an issue, but a "high" version of any of these would be preferable.

Re: Need 15-20 gal tank
It's going to serve as a downgrade/replacement for my 40g, which after a prolonged amount of time without a return (after another failure when I happened to be away for a few days) mostly died. Only a few things made it. I may be getting rid of the rest of the sps and keeping the couple of LPS I have left. Probably just going to put an anemone in the tank and make it an anemone tank with a couple of sparse corals. I'm looking into LED lighting for the tank, though. There are a few high powered bulbs (screw in) that have LEDs that I'll probably use. They have them on nanocustoms.com for $119, last I checked. I figure that's save me on some costs. I may also be selling my Deltec skimmer and larger modded Tunze 6100, but I don't know that for sure yet. I'm not going to put that monster in the 20, but I may put a few of my nanostreams in there (or maybe some of the new controllable Koralias). Anyway, but yeah.

I have a sweet 25g tall that'd suit you perfectly. Problem is it's down in a storage unit in Orlando. I doubt you want to go this small, but I've got a few 10 gallons laying around.

Drew, actually, if you don't mind, I'd like you to have all the sps I have left. Some of the corals are still alive, but barely. If you have time today, I can drop them off (I'm going to be out and about most of the day, anyway). Just let me know where/when as soon as you can.

Re: Need 15-20 gal tank
Thanks for the interest. 99% of the pieces I had were Drew's to start with and I had promised that they'd go back to him well before all of this happened. I've left all the sps I had in his care for the time being. If I decide to get more, I'll definitely let you know.AgeDynasty wrote:Are you getting rid of your coral, if so what do you have I might interested in purchasing some coral.
Funny you mention all of this. I ended up getting a very nice 25 gallon cube (18x18x18) that is killer. Also, strangely enough, yes the oargrass did survive. I didn't even realize that it was still alive until today when I ripped up a 2ft rhizome. The new tank is going to have a 250w 10K halide for the seagrass and single anemone, so hopefully that will get things growing quickly. As soon as it settles again, you are welcome to have some. FWIW, this new tank will be all natural filtration--basically a scrubber and seagrass/macroalgae filtered tank. There will be no protein skimmers and minimal equipment to break. The fanciest thing on it will be the auto-topoff module, which I'm just going to fill with kalkwasser for 100% of the topoff. It's back to the absolute basics for me.AuroraDrvr wrote:I have a sweet 25g tall that'd suit you perfectly. Problem is it's down in a storage unit in Orlando. Some of that stuff looked rough. We will see what makes it. I hope the tort pulls through. I split the stuff between two tanks to see if I can get it growing.

I know. Like I had told you earlier, the tank had experienced periods of time without the return operating, but this time it really took its toll for whatever reason. The salinity, calcium, alkalinity, and temperature are all normal, but I just got a lot of failure to thrive reactions. Maybe something bacterial with the lesser amount of water flow (I had to shut off one of the larger Tunze)? In any case, I hope at least some of them make it.

Pretty sweet dimensions for a smaller tank. I love cubes.Amphiprion wrote:Funny you mention all of this. I ended up getting a very nice 25 gallon cube (18x18x18) that is killer. Thanks for the offer, but I need to get my sand bed squared away before I try a grass again. I need to get it a little deeper, and am planning to mix it up with some mud. I'm headed down to South Florida in June and plan to collect some Star Grass, Oar Grass, various other Grasses and tons of Macroalgaes. If I collect more than my share you're welcome to some.
My planted tanks have always been very basic with a couple HOB biowheels and some PH's. Algaes hate fighting Skimmers for nutrients.

Re: Need 15-20 gal tank
Just be sure to collect it washed ashore, since it is illegal to collect it normally. It's a pretty steep fine, last I checked, too. If you do manage to have some left over, I may be interested in the star grass. Not sure how well the two species will do together, though. Oar grass is probably the sturdier, so it may potentially outcompete it eventually. I know it's a bad idea to mix any of the Halophila species with other climax species, like Thalassia.
