Wow, that's a lot of blue. Nice coral, btw.

Re: Late night picture
Its really not that blue, i just cant figure out this camera... Blue turns out way too much but the reds seem be be near impossible to capture with it.
2 examples of my reds not showing up well are this piece
(the mouths are more intense coloration)

and this
The red base seems to be faded in the pic to an almost orange

If anyone has any tips for camera settings I'm all ears

You will figure it out
Lesson #1 : You can't take a pic of a coral, without telling us what kind of coral it is.

Re: Late night picture
Setting your cameras white balance will fix your problem with the blue pictures.

Thanks for the info I've been trying to mess with that. Its seems as though my pictures have a lot of blue when the sand is also being captured in the picture otherwise they are not too bad.

Re: Late night picture
The you need to aim at the sand with the actinics on to set your white balance, focus on the sand.

Re: Late night picture
Thanks again. I was messing with the settings today and think I may have made some good progress with the camera.
This picture is very close to what the actual color is now.
Pure actinic lighting on this one no halide.

Re: Late night picture
This is an old post but wanted to let you know why your pictures are all so blue. Normally somewhere in the camera menus and options you can set the "white balance". Basically you go to the option, and normally set it to manual. Then you will focus in on the sand, and snap a sample. What you are telling the camera is that your white balance is abnormal and setting a base value.
Here is some reference, look at bullet number one.

Re: Late night picture
Since someone renewed this old post, I would really love a frag of that coral. Saw the pic and it made my palms itch, like a heroin addict standing in line at the methadone clinic. If you have any frags pm me and let me know $$

Re: Late night picture
Thanks for the link ill look that over and see if i can get improvements
my camera does not do well with the tank colors. if i record a video with it its fairly acurate but not with pictures.
Redpheonix i dont currently have any frags of those right now. The chalice in the last picture bleached a while back when i change my lighting, but it has been making a steady recovery. Ill get some frag plugs and cut a piece off them and grow them out a bit for you. The only one i will not cut though is the 4th one down that is a slow growing piece
