New 225 Gal Tank Setup

Well I have finally upgraded my setup. I picked up the setup this past Saturday and spent all weekend getting everything organized in it. I had to make room for all the corals that I had and the ones that came with the setup. So it was a job just making everything fit. It took till about Monday before the tank was crystal clear again and a couple of the corals did take a hit in the move, but most I think will recover nicely. Here is a break down of the setup

Equipment
225 gallon tall tank. (Really to tall for my short arms, but I love it.)
Stand and canopy finished in black rough textured paint. (Wife does not like the color so we may paint it white or something)
2 closed loops with 3000RPM little giant pumps
Return pump is also a little giant pump
ASM G4 Skimmer
GEO Calcium Reactor
Aqua Ultraviolet 25 watt UV sterilizer
20 gallon refugium

Lighting
2 x 400 watt PFO MH setups with 14K XM bulbs
4 x 6’ VHO bulbs running on Icecap 660 ballast
Fans built into the canopy
Moonlights

Corals
To many to list. See the pictures

Fish
2 Blue tangs
Yellow tang
2 Maroon Clowns (matted pair)
Midas Blenny
Flame Hawkfish
Purple Wrasse
Watchman Goby

Looks real good Andy! Like the rock work. I think a frag of several sps need to be in our tank!

I have only have had them for a week now, since I just picked the whole setup on the 21st. The guy that I got the setup from has had the tank up and running for about 3 years or so and has always gotten awesome growth out of everything. I am hoping I will have the same. So far everything in the tank is doing great. Last night I finally got around to mounting most of the frags that I got from moving the corals around to get them situated. I will mount a few more when I get some more mounting plugs in this week. I am excited to see how everything does for me with this setup.

I was just wondering, how much trouble was it to move the tank. I have read about people buying tanks already set up with fish, corals and all. I figured it had to be a pain to move it.

Well it was a pain to move considering we were trying to not touch the sand bed. If I was not going to set it back up I would have just scooped the sand out and it would have been a lot easier to move. It took me and 3 other guys to move it, and it took all day. We moved it from Pensacola to mobile so we had to drive about 50 mph on the interstate all the way back. Loading and unloading it was the hardest and most critical parts about it. We lifted the tank and stand up far enough to get some furniture dollies under it and just rolled it out the door. Once the thing was in place all we had to do it fill it up and turn the pumps on since we did not have to cut any of the pluming. Filling the thing made the tank very cloudy and made it very difficult to see anything in the tank so what we did what filled enough to get the pumps on and through all the corals rock and fish back in the tank and I had to organize things later once I could see what I was doing. In the future I will know that I need to get all the corals into the tank as soon as possible, because some of the acros took a hit that I left in a trash can over night with a pump and heater. But for the most part it was not as big of a pain in the butt as I though that it was going to be. I still don’t have all the corals where I want them, because they do not want to stay where I put them. I come home every day and move things around.

When I get home tonight I will try and take some more pics of the corals and equipment and post them. I do plan on maybe getting a couple of more fish to put in it, but not sure what I want to get yet.

Thanks, yeah I moved the old tank to the opposite wall for now and put this one in the same place.
