A Sand question

No biggie. I really just bought some to check it out.
Its not reef sand by my standards. Its very coarse, brown and dusty. Looks like leveling sand you can get at HD for $8 a 50lb bag. The "extras" were 2 empty snail shells, a piece of rubble rock the size of a quarter, and a piece of cheato that won't even cover that rock.
It was packed in 2 fish bags and stuffed into a cardboard box. Not so much as even wrapped in newspaper. Needless to say, mine was a soggy mess when the unhappy mail carrier delivered it to my door.
I'm going to use half of it in a small tank I'm setting up for turtle grass and seahorses but I would not put it in my reef.

Well, Im sorry to hear that for more then one reason. I guess I will either take a trip to coral connection, or try and find some dry sand somewhere for a decent price.
And to think, I almost ordered some Mon. It was killing me to wait.

Try www.billsreef.com . Supposed to have not only good quality, but some of the largest densities of infauna in mail order sands.

Before anyone asks, the other was a Japanese made iwaki pump that I could find no info on the model number. I figured for $35 it didn't matter much, I'd use it somewhere. Turns out to be about as big as a soda can. Everything is in Japanese so I'm not even sure if it will work on a US power outlet (no cord, hardwires). 8 years old, still new in the box!
