Toyota builds in Canada, SE American workers too dumb

Post by ShagMan »

Sad but probably very true about the general "trainability" of workers in Canada vs. southeastern U.S.A.

well living down here my whole life, I consider Tennessee to be more Middle Eastern USA LOL. I lump Tennessee in with Kentucky. When I think of Alabama and Mississippi, I think of Bubba Joe with his half broken down pickup complete with gun rack and rebel flag, spittin out his chew and holding a can of beer. And by Alabama..I'm including the Florida panhandle. I've lived in this area all of my life...and I am basing this on what I see everyday driving to work. When ever I have been in Tennessee... I dont see anything like that!!

Thats funny because being from PA I think of most places below the mason dixon just as you described. I have some family who moved to TN and they live exactly how you explained Alabama and Mississippi.

I've been to TN a lot and to me the people are about the same. Remember where Deliverance was filmed? Yeah we got a lot of red necks but so does Tennessee they are just called Hillbillies.

Tennessee? Mmm boy you have a pretty mouth - you're even more hick-ish in Tennessee than in Pensacola or South Alabama. You're talking Hillfolk there :)

yea i stopped into my aunts house back in 2000 on the way down from pennsylvania. It was about half way between there and P'cola.. Anyway they told me to meet them where my aunt works because if people who live on the road that they live on saw a Florida tag or foreigner for that matter they might be tempted to get out the shotgun. They had it happen once before. I think because they were protecting their moonshine.

You have to look at Tennessee as 3 different states. East Tn. is generally where the hillbillies are, middle TN. is where the rednecks are.....and West TN......hell if I know.
If you ask me where I'm from, I will ALWAYS say East Tennessee, I might acknowledge middle tennessee as part of the state but really don't claim West TN. I can tell you for sure, there are alot of places you don't want to get lost. But mostly there are good people there, though you are better off to stay near the bigger cities, Knoxville is a great place.
Just had to set the record straight, from my East Tennesseean point of view.

From what I have heard and seen most of the south is pretty bad with the exception of south Florida (the little bit I've seen of it). Also the worst of the worst seem to be in Virginia. One of my co-workers in-laws live there and he tells the stories of the shacks with outhouses and no electricity, plumbing, teeth, etc. It seems to be alot like the old Looney Toons cartoon with the two hillbillies up there.
Wanted: to set up a tank again.
