What on earth is this
My tanks never cease to amaze me with critters. Does anyone have any idea whatthese things are. they are on the glass in several places. There seems to be 2 different shapes here. And they are VERY tiny, smaller then a grain of salt moving to and fro.

I actually see a mixture of things but see no pods at all. I see some Mysis shrimp in one picture and even see a flatworm or two. I hardly ever see copepods on the glass they are normally in the rock or under rock. I do see amphipods on the glass expecially on a new tank.

Ok now you are freaking me out. Please tell me you are not seeing the flat worms on my tank pics. If so please tell me where you see them.snoopdog wrote:I actually see a mixture of things but see no pods at all. I see some Mysis shrimp in one picture and even see a flatworm or two. No way......if nothing else they are food. If they are a little bit sluggish looking and clear i have a few of these in my tank, they are a little bit more mature though. Normally these things are short lived and only around because there is a food source. I seriously doubt there are any left in a few weeks/month.

Yes way, they are white and just motor around. Like I said they are just tiny little specks, but I can see them ALL over the glass, and nothing is eatting them, Could it be seed shrimp. I have several types of shrimp in the tanksnoopdog wrote:No way......if nothing else they are food. I've had the clear kind that look like a ghost, like in danielmiller's picture labeled 'some other kinda critter'. Had them in a 10 gallon, they didn't hurt anything, but they did reach epic porportions and then they just went away to never come back.
Shimek labels them as a harmless type of flatworm.. someone even suspected them of eating the planaria type of flatworm, but I don't know if that is true or not.

Oh no this aint right. Ok everyone, I'm way outta my league here. the tank is COVERED in these things, and if you look closer now there is some kind of elongated thing on the glass too.
