Well, to be on the safe side, we'll keep the birds inside.

I won't kill the snake, that would mean I'd have to get close to it. Spiders are okay, so long as they're outside :) I like them, cause they eat bad bugs.

The snake lives under the house. I'm glad he's there. I'd much rather have a snake than rats in the crawlspace. Maybe he will help cull the 5-lined skink population. I have had 3 dart inside now, when opening a door, or could be the same one 3 times, no clue. But they're FAST. I have no problems with lizards, but I like them outside the house and not running around a million miles an hour inside.

I say the hawk can eat all the squirrels he wants, because we're overun with them. They empty the feeders and eat all the deer corn. One will scoop all the food from the bird feeder and the others are below eating it. I counted 12 the other day eating the deer corn I had just put out.

I've seen them take doves a couple of times, but I think they probably have to be desparate. Our Macaw would just be screaming "Helllooooooo" to him the whole time. We try and tell him to not talk to strangers, but what can you do? :)

All I could think about last night was, you know, there's a small hole in the floor in the living room. EEK!!!! And, is my window shut? What about the other windows? Is it thinking how nice and warm it must be in that bed in the room it looks into? LOL

And Yes, Cookie does tell the Hawks Hello.....

At the old house, he saw one, cocked his head and whispered to it, Hello? Then said loudly, HELLLLLO!!!!?????!!!!

We were sitting on the swing on the back deck and he saw 3 of them overhead and made his warning sound...he kinda makes this sound and stares at you, then gets all wound up and screams at the top of his lungs.....luckily for me, he didn't let loose. It's pretty loud. Our poor neighbors probably think we're murdering someone when he gets going.

He hasn't seen this hawk. Just hawks flying above. He's all the time cocking his head sideways to watch for anything flying above him. We wouldn't take him out when this fellow is lurking about, he would probably freak out.

Over population. That is why doe season last all hunting season now and also they are letting anybody hunt with cross bows this year. I also heard awhile back that they were going to let people hunt over corn. I'm not sure if that passed but I know they are have been trying to thin out the deer population. At the place I use to hunt we had a deer die off due to over population. There is also a disease that deer will get from be limited to a small area. It takes a good bit of management to maintain a good deer heard on your land to produce big healthy deer. That's what Anti hunting people don't understand. You have to maintain the heard if you want to see healthy animals.

Sweet potatoes sound like a great idea.. Lots of vitamins. I'll get some tommorrow. Thanks Man. I agree on all points, not anti-hunting, just don't like sickly looking animals if I can help it. We are pretty darned eat up with deer in this area.

also, they seem to forget that the deer no longer have predators on the forrest...like wolves and coyotes. There are still some predators there...but they end up getting the easier food...trash etc.

You can go down to the southern end end of the county where they pick the sweet potatos and you can buy the culls in bulk. They are real cheap. You can get a truck load and cover them in pine straw and use them as needed and they will keep for awhile. That is what richard does at his hunting camp. He does cut them in halp because they are big potatos. There are some farms around Loxley and robertsdale.
