How much 2 part B-Ionic on average does everybody use per day that uses it. I've been using it for about a year adding approximately 40 ml for my 92 gal tank everyday. I am just wonder how much everybody else uses. I think i'm going to have to increase a little because my calcium seem to alway decrease. I would love to hear some feedback on how much you dose and for what size tank.
The best advice I saw was to check your calcium and alkalinity as a starting point. Don't add any additives. Check it again 2 days in a row at the same time of the day to determine your Calcium and alkalinity usage. Base your additives on the usage by using the calculator or reading the back of the jug. Do this again in about a month to see if everything is staying where it should be.

My calcium got up to around 430 ppm last night after I added that calcium choride stuff, I dosed 40ml of B-ionic last night also and today at lunch my Calcium had droped to 400ppm. I don't think I'm adding enough B-ionic to maintain the calcium. I'm going to dose some more calcium choride tonight and increase the B-ionic to 60ml and see if it the calcium levels will hold.
If you go to 60ml's daily watch your salinity you will see it start to climb.
It makes no sense to me, but I don't have to dose as much since I switched to the new oceanic salt. It's as if it has a greater buffer... no clue just my observation.

A couple moths back, I had to leave on a trip to Alaska. My calcium was at about 410 (which was very low but I had added several spss' that week. I asked my wife to do 25ml of b ionic a day while I was gone. When I finally returned, I could not believe the corraline ( I had tried forever to get the crap to grow). Anyways, my calcium was still at about 420 so I increased the dosage up to 50 ml. That leveled me at about 440. This whole time, I was doing about 3.5 gal of kalkwasser a day. I have now added a calcium reactor but still add 25ml a day of b ionic and calcium is at about 460 and dkh at about 14+.

A bunch of test later I think I have finale unlocked the mystery of the B-Ionic dose. Right now my Calcium is up to 475ppm. Is this too high? I have found that 70 ml of B-ionic increases my calcium by 25ppm and 60 ml seems to hold the level of calcium. I am just wondering if I should let my levels drop down closer to 450 or just leave it alone and hold at 475.

I have always heard you can go broke trying to raise it with B-Ionic. The preferred method is to use Turbo Calcium to raise and two parts to stabilize. Anything above 350 is fine.

If your caclium gets too high, you might have prolific growth of coralline algae, or your water might be cloudy from calcium precipitation.Snakeman wrote:I used the ESV calcium chloride to raise it.
