Sea urchins
I'm going to try to go diving Friday so if anybody wants some sea urchins let me know. I don't know if the kind we have will eat coral but they are easy to get.
is this what you mean by a collector urchin?

I've been wanting what they call a "tuxedo" urchin, that instead of spines, is smooth with vertical rows of tentacles, they collect stuff on the top of themselves as they move around... I don't thing we have these locally tho

The smaller ones do a better job from what i have seen, the large ones cannot reach in small crevices. I also notice they do not seem to eat macro algea, only corraline.

Urchins
Hi there;
I have a long spine black urchin in my tank along with a pin cushion urchin.
Neither of them have touched my corals. I have a large Colt, mushroom and a bubble coral. They both seem to prefer the coralline algae and will not eat the macro or hair algaes. At least not too much of it. The pin cushion urchin has short spines with long tube feet that allows it to attach things to it. I have seen it carry around algae strands, small rocks, even hermit crabs. I would like one of those Royal Blue Urchins. I saw one at B&B several months ago but got my sea cucumber instead.
