They sugest changing everything except the membrane at 6 months to a year. I think the exacttime depends on the quality of your tap water and is very variable. Do you have a TDS meter? I would think that using a TDS meter is a better indication of when to change them.

I know Shawn has one and I am sure that lots of other people may have them. May be you could borrow one or take some RO water with you to the next meeting. Do you have DI? Is it the color changing resin?

I watch my output with a TDS meter (yes I have one that reads PPM's)... my tap water is about 40ppm, I keep my output below 4ppm or so, when it gets over that much I change out the DI, the two carbons and the sediment. I bought my RO/DI from, and buy replacement cartridges from Walter @ Air, Water & Ice, in FL... costs $50 for a 4 pc. kit, plus a few bucks shipping.

That reminds me, has anyone else checked their tap water for PPM's TDS? Mine seemed actually reasonable at 40ppm's, I've heard of a LOT worse.

Also, I have a color changing DI resin, and it changes to blue when it gets used up, if I remember right... mine's starting to change, I'll look tonight to make sure what color it is.
