Advertising our club and this forum revisited

Post by Scott »

I have contacted a quite a few people and have gotten our address on a few links pages that are specifically for reef clubs and aquarium societies. I have gotten some to add it and the North Alabama Reef Club has added us to their website without anyone even asking them! Here is where we are listed as of now.

http://fins.actwin.com/dir/clubs.php?c=1&r=19
http://www.reefs.org/links/index.html

Not much but I have a few more that I hope are coming soon.

Reef Central knows we're here because of the Alabama Reefer's Forum on there... I gave them our info a month or so ago when they were doing a club round up. There's basicly three clubs in Alabama, north, central, and south (us).

Yeah, I visit the Reef Central Alabama Reefers section a lot. That is where Shawn and Brandon found an old post (http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthrea ... did=149468)last Feb/March and wanted to join. Those statistics are pretty good. I don't understand why we are having a slump in postings and interest though. Why was September, October and Novermber busy and December has been mediocre. I have put this site as my signature and web site link on all the other forums in the hope of getting more members.

I am also interested why we are having a slump. I am having problems with my tanks after the move and have not posted any progress because i am losing stuff instead of growing stuff.

I lost a few things on the transition to the new tank, but haven't posted much about the new tank because I am not real pleased with how it is aquascaped and the color of the lights. I can't say that it is doing bad but am kind of discouraged after such a long build up. Also a lot of the others have been nearly absent. I am not sure what an be done to jump start it to get out of this slump, but I am up for anything. Maybe we need to have a big frag swap or group buy.

Oh, and how can we get links from the Ask Snoop web site? I thought that Kevin was moonlighting but I guess not.

I figured the slump is due to the holiday season. We don't even have a year to evaluate by. It might not be anything.. I know I've been swamped at work and the holiday thing. In the last two weeks our t1 went down permanently, our primary server died a horrific death, the phone system is crapping out, our petty cash was stolen, I moved our primary domains to an alternate server... etc etc.. Just busy here, have been in lurk mode.

My main tank has some issues right now. My brains nearly died, but have been graciously rescued by Jason & Ryan until I can get a handle on this. Water changes seem to be bringing it back inline. I don't know what's been going on with it.. I can't detect anything out of whack with test kits.. all I can think of is that something foreign was introduced into the tank via our hands.. I'm all the time picking up fallen coral pieces with my hands in the tank. I haven't wanted to add anything new or do much of anything until I can get it back up to snuff.

Of course Amy's 29 gallon looks fine but i am still having a battle with my 26 gallon and nuisance algae. If i could find the secret to the 29 gallon and duplicate it i would have it made.
