My sister-in-law is a deaf education teacher. She wants to set up a reptile tank that will hold a bearded something (I don't know squat about reptiles) for her students. She need a tank that is larger than 25 gallons, a hot rock, a screen cover and anything else that a lizard might need. If anyone has any or all of this stuff they would like to donate it would be much appreciated. You can e-mail me and I will pass it along.
Thanks,
Scott

Ahem.....a bearded dragon...the most wonderfulest lizard of them all....Followed in close second by the leapord gecko...Sorry, I dont have anything to accomidate her unless she gets a 75g then I have a screen cover for her she can have, but I can say most peeps dont use hotrocks nowadays, when hotrocks screw up and they do screw up eventually, some reptiles will sit on them til they blister or/and die....I can say I have personally used them with success in the past, but was scorned by others in the trade.....If housing just one, I would suggest @ least a 30 long, the more surface the better....She is gonna love it and will enjoy many years of enjoyment from it........"BEARDED DRAGONS RULE!!!!"

Yep, that's what she called it. I have a standard 20 gallon that she was told would be too small. I have no experience with reptiles so I will take your advice on the hot rock. Is there anything else that she may need? I have seen limbs in with the reptiles at B&B. Can you use driftwood for that?

yeap, driftwood would be fine, as well as a sturdy bowl that's not likely to tip over, a light for basking and substrate (not sure what a BD pref is but can be researched further)....It may seem like alot at first but once this stuff is gotten, theres hardly any maintenance....I tell u one thing scott, if you ever get a chance to see him, you will love this lizard....He will just sit on your shoulder and .....nothing, just sit there, quite amazing for a reptile....anyway..hope I was a lil help...feel free to ask away, I have a few years on snake keepin under my belt.

I have a 55 gallon in the back yard that might clean up ok. You could make a top cheap using 1x frame and mesh screen. If she has a long cabinet in the class to sit it on ...that would be cool and save them from having to get a stand. Not sure what else I might have "in the attic", but I will check tomorrow when I clean the garage out. May have a 30 or 40 gallon breeder tank up there. Seems like I have a lizard tank somewhere too...with the sliding top and sides that open.....unless I gave it away.
Ill see what I can find.

I told her to measure to make sure it would fit. She is getting the lizard from a guy in Gulfport that breeds them and he said the minimum would be a 40 gallon tank. so this would be good. I appreciate all the replies.
