OK...Due to the fact that I cant seem to find a descent deal locally I am going to order some live rock online...In Approx 2 weeks I plan on ordering 1-2 box's of Kaelini live rock from East coast clams due to their good reviews in the past...I was curious if anyone was planning on getting any soon and wanted to order at the same time to maybe save on some shipping charges...lmk

Oh, I plan on it. Their prices rock and I live 5 minutes from the Mobile airport too, and I hear good things about that kind of rock you talk about (Kaelini)... Might get a box or two of that and a box or two of the regular Fiji stuff. I think we want to order about 150lbs. to start. I'm toying with the idea of buying a large rubbermaid "stock tank" to cure it all in (we have a spare room), but I hate wasting that much water, and then I would have to try and store the stock tank, or throw it away. If we end up curing it in-tank, we're looking at 1-1.5 months before the tank is ready to go.

Well, depends on how long the "month or so" is...a month would b fine, but I'd like to go ahead and get it then...According to Brandon, he says he wished he would have ordered 2 Kaelini's instead of 1 Kaelini and one Fiji...and at 2.75 a lb (its gone up a quater a lb since he got his)and a box is 50-80 lbs....Its a bargain..

well I'll get back with you on it... I know that we'll be needing it sometime soon, and we'll have to order it through ECC for the best price... depends on whether we're gonna use a seperate curing tank or cure it in-tank...
hmmmmmm, wonder if I could line the tub in the 2nd bathroom and use it for curing LOL

After thinking about it, I probably will want to cure in-tank, so I can keep all the cool critters and bacteria, and get a chance to get the tank dialed in.... you had better just go ahead and place you order... I'm *hoping* to have the tank ready to go in a month, but you know how that ends up.

Man, that dog stinks two days after you give her a bath, so doesn't much matter if we have a place to wash her or not! phew!

I am still well pleased with the Kaelini from ECC. The corraline didn't bleach out,and it now has quiet a few worms/critters, etc on it. It seemed to have less hitch hikers than some of the other stuff I've gotten in the past, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The sizes of the Kaelini are very big compared to the smallish stuff you usually see with figi.. I personally like that, but wouldn't work out great for a small tank.
I need to order some to fill a 75, but not sure on timeline. I think the air freight charges you for 100 lbs even if your order weighs less.. or something like that.. I could be totally wrong, It's late and I'm on my 3rd glass of wine.
