macro algea

for some reson the macro algea in my refuge aint growing like i woulda thought it would. i may not have the right light in there. i have a grow bulb from lowes im thinking it may be for dry plants not water plants. do you think it would make a difference , or is there something eles wrong.help plez

any grow light should work fine. I think ive read you want 5500k or better. i guess it could not be enough light, or maybe your tank is so ultra pristine that there are no nutrients for it :) What kind of algae is it?

Here is a good link about some bulbs. Look at the 5100k bulb it looks like it works well.

thanks. i think my light might be to small. its 125w. i will look at it and see, i might have to go to lowes and get a bigger one. crazywesc, your link isnt there, if you can post it again.

You used to be able to order it at Home Depot and pick it up. Might be able to find it elsewhere cheaper.
