Hey all,
I seem to read that there is a reef safe heniochus that looks just like the unsafe one. How do you know the diffrence?

Heniochus diphreutes is the reef safe species also called the Schooling Bannerfish. The other species that is similar is Heniochus acuminatus. It is also known as the Longfin Bannerfish. The H. diphreutes is a planktivore. The Schooling Bannerfish's snout is shorter and the breast is broader. Also the second black bar ends at the distal tip of the anal fin. It is easier to tell I believe in larger specimens. The best place I have found to compare the two is on fishbase.org. The problem with ordering a particular species is that many company's call them simply Black and White Heniochus which of course describes both species.
