Okay..... corny I know... but if it gets someones attention.
Does anyone know what to do with an injured fruit bat? (am guessing at the type) found it on the porch this yesterday morning, put it in the dog bowl to get it off the hot cement. Really didn't expect it to be alive when I got home from work and it is. I saw it with its wing all the way open a few minutes ago when I changed out the soaking wet towel that was over it and it has a couple of holes in one wing. I hate to just let the little guy die but don't have a clue what to do with it... any suggestions? Got plenty of water today (still raining in Alabama) but no food.

I wouldn't touch that bat.
http://www.batcon.org/discover/species/al.html to see what kind it is.
Found this place in Gainesville:

I personally would call the Department of Game & Wildlife or try and contact Fishfood/Drew (He works for them) and ask them if they know of a rehabber or what to do. People that do rehab for bats have to have pre-exposure rabies shots and maintain rabies antibodies in their system... so I wouldn't think there would be a whole lot of them.
I can't find the number for a local office for the Alabama Wildlife: just found this maybe they could give a local number:

Found something else:

Yup, Prolly dropped out the sky cause he's got a bad case of the West Nile Virus.
Just put him on the neighbors porch!
Calling the Wildlife dept would be my call too.......... after I took some cool pics!

Yeah, get one with Kevin about to bite its head off Ozzy style. Just kidding. I used to know a guy that had a bat for a pet. I think they are easily kept. Maybe you should try and feed it a cricket or something. the main thing is not to get bit. If it had west nile virus it would be dead.

I personally dont think it is going to make it. Only moves when you poke it, the it just twitches. They are playing around with it even though i told them to leave it alone. You know how women are.
