Want to see what a substantial $$ amount of coral from Atlantis Aquarium looks like when Fed-Ex takes three days to get it to you? Made me want to cry.

Ten pieces. Eight large ones. All dead.

Atlantis has been great about the ordeal. I have a store credit for the purchase amount.

That just sucks. I wish there was some way to have a shipping company that had a little more "priority" to live shipments. But then I guess it would be outrageously expensive. I still think they should have had someone there on Sunday to get stuff out. Very sad.

I never use Fedex for anything. Not even dry goods. They have a reputation for losing packages as well as shipping them to the wrong house and not being able to recover them. Then they do not want to cover any of it. I know this because of first hand experience. There are many horror stories about live goods and Fedex. I would think people would stop using them.

I use nothing but FedEx becuase they will hold the stuff at their local facility and I can pick them up. With UPS they won't do that. I have found a local ups store that after a few times of trying to get them to hold something for me finally said they would even though I don't have a mail box. So I have had nothing but great service from FedEx and will not go with anything else. I'm sure some day I'll have a problem because every carrier does, but in 5 years I haven't had one. I also like the fact that they will not just let stuff sit at my door. I get home to find my ups boxes just sitting at the from door where anyone could stop by and pick them up.

Fed ex is definately the best option, I've had horrible experiences getting livestock thru DHL and UPS. I think UPS finally quit shipping live animals. I have had a couple of bad shipments thru Fed Ex, but have also had some good ones. They are really the only option. It's just sad to have animals die because they were left sitting at the airport.

This is the problem we had qwith Fedex. They love to leave or packages on other peoples doorsteps. And since there is no signature than it can not be proven that person picked it up or someone else. I have never had a problem with UPS but I have never shipped live goods from any company so. I guess if Fedex is the only one for livegoods then I will ave to use them.

I guess they have a different policy over there in mobile. They never leave them for me. I always have to run down the the holding facility or put the note on the door for them to leave it without a signature. Now UPS on the other hand I never have to sign for anything, and the guy doesn't even knock on the door or ring the bell. I recently had something delivered and it wasn't there when I got home from work(5:00 pm) and when I went to go out that night (8:30) it was sitting there.

So what corals were those Phil. They have some nice stuff on their site.

In all fairness, this was the first problem I ever had with Fed-Ex.

Drew, Just pick the best eight looking ones on the website last week and that was them.

The make up shipment is on its way to me now.

Maybe I will have some better pictures to post tommorrow.

Hmm. Never had a problem with FedEx myself. They even overnighted seahorses from Hawaii straight to my door--no problems. I guess it depends upon the particular courier, weather in shipping area, and a ton of other variables. BTW, sorry for your losses, they looked like they were beautiful pieces.

I wouldn't say that it was a FedEx problem. If they won't let them take off the ground in TN it wouldn't matter who was the carrier unless they didn't go through TN.

casey, I hope you got a credit for those acros.

It is fun to bash Fed-Ex, but they do have an excuse sometimes. My b*tch is the difficulty in reimbursement for loss. Don't pick them up on friday if you believe they can't get through that night. If Fed-Ex takes delivery it seems to me they ought to be very forthcoming on the reimbursement on the gamble.

Yea I had to argue a little but did get my money back from the shippers,Fed x just doesnt care, they will be coming out soon with a new service just for shipping live animals (like corals) but it will be $$$$$$.
