Coral Banded acting strange.

Monday when I came to work I noticed my Coral Banded acting strange, he was hanging on the powerhead. I thought cool, he is about to molt....
Well today he is still there hanging upside down, rarely moving more that a whisker. So I nudge him with a net and he just tries to move a little and still hangs on to that powerhead. So what now, he is not eating either which is very odd. BTW this is my 12 gallon at work, not my 26 gallon at home.

Doesn't sound too good. In my experience, lethargy is soon followed by death. Just as a precautionary measure, what is the temp and salinity? It may have been trying to molt and then met with some sort of complication or it could be just plain old age (how long have you had it?).

He cacked. I have no idea why, other than some red floating algea in the tank, everything else if fine. The algea seems to go away in time, normally see it in a young tank.

Sorry to hear that, especially since that was what I was afraid of. I doubt red algae on top of the water caused the problem, but do you not have much surface disruption in that tank? I suppose a variety of things could have caused this, but like I said, they seem to die after becoming lethargic like that. I have never noticed anything that can "snap" them out of it. Likely, some lethal damage occurred somewhere, but "where" and "how" are the questions.

The tank is only 12 gallons, has a good power head on it. It just has a light red film on the top of the water. Both of my 12 gallon tanks had the same film, I guess because they are still fairly new.
