mushroom coming unglued!
I got a mushroom that I am having trouble getting to attach to a rock. It came unattached to anything. I have tried twice to super glue it to a rock and within about a day it comes unglued. I've used regular super glue which is all I have at the moment. Any suggestions?

You cannot glue mushrooms, they have a major slime coat. They are an anenome so they will attach when they get good and ready. Netting will sometimes hold them down long enough for there foot to attach or maybe you could try piercing it with something sharp and pinning it down.

Let's put it this way. If you took that mushroom out and cut it into 6 pieces then more than likely you would have 6 mushrooms in about 3 months.

Wow! I'm gonna have to try that. I just ordered a mushroom pack from liveaquaria.com this weekend and got lots of mushrooms. I saw on your gallary page where you fragged the mushrooms. Maybe I'll try one....makes me nervous though! How long can you keep them out of the water while you're doing that? I got a small mushroom from Karen 2 months ago and it already split on it's own. I couldn't belive it split being so small....it's about the size of the tip of my finger.

Another trick that Drew's used often is:
Take a small container that is clean (preferably one you use for tank stuff only).
Place some rubble rock in the container and place the container on the bottom in the tank.
Put the mushroom in the container on top of the rubble rock.
Let it sit there for a while in the tank. Once the mushroom is ready, it will attach to some of the rubble rock and you can then glue that rock in your tank.
It's not exactly pretty to have a plastic container sitting at the bottom of the tank for a few days, but it's worked like a charm everytime we get a new ricordia or mushroom that isn't attached to anything or when one falls off a rock.
Hope that helps.

I just put one on a piece of glass or flat plate. Take a brand new razor, flat one and slice it down the middle like a pizza. Try to keep a section of the mouth on each piece if possible. It is a very slimy job, beware.
