My wife and I have come to a crossroad... there's a lot of reasons we've decided to exit the hobby, but the main reasons is that the house's air conditioning can't handle the heat and humidity load the tank's puttig on it... and we're faced with either spending $3k+ on a larger tonnage unit, or removing the tank from the house. We do want to start the hobby up again when we can design our next house, but for right now, it's got to go.

hardware:

240G Ocean View, glass, 2'x2'x8', two center braces,
center/end overflows with two 1" holes per overflow.
Stand has 5 doors, one is on the end, for easy sump/refuge replacement.
75G sump, not partitioned.
55G refuge, two LOA CF light fixtures, water flow is via tank's overflow.
2 x MAG 24's for feeds to tank, water enters tank via two overhead feeds.
Four 3/4" outlets, one at each corner.
lighting is 6 x workhorse7 ballasts, 4 50/50 and 2 actinic 160w 6' VHO's.
skimmer (Sedra 3500 is dead, needs to be replaced)
pro-heat II 1000w heater, has seperate temp probe and LCD readout.
6 stage RO/DI system w/ 4 gallon bladder tank, and a 50G plastic container for holding water reserves.
livestock:
5-6" DSB, two years old.
roughly 300lbs marshall island and Fiji rock, about 50/50 mix.
three dinner-plate sized toadstools, two of them are "twins", joined at the base.
one saucer-sized toadstool, fast grower.
several small kenya trees.
several colts... one is 7-8" tall.
15 or so frilly mushrooms, all in a group.
lots of large purple/blue/brown mushrooms.
two frogspawns, 8-10 heads each.
several large crops of GSP's, one is brownish/gold.
also GSP's in large colony on overflow wall.
misc. polyps, mostly generic green and brown.
lots of misc. softies, three-four devil's hands, others
different varieties of Xenia (hey, this IS mostly a softie tank)
some SPS... a medium sized green slimer and three baseball sized pocillapora, few others.
several monticaps, including a plate sized orange specimen that is large plate-sized.
group of three large multi-color mushroom like thingies, green/pink.
large colony of galaxia, growing and healthy.
medium rose anemone
not a lot of fish: some green chrmois, yellow/kole tangs, potters angel, few others

I'm looking for $2500 firm for the complete system as it is.

semi-current pic of livestock... keep in mind there's another large
toadstool and more softies on the other side, this is a room-divider
type setup, so there's stuff to see on both sides.

These two pics were then it was new, about two years ago.

thread about construction... keep in mind the MH's were removed
in favor of more VHO's instead, the softies like VHO's.

Josh I want some Xenia before you exit ! I have been meaning to come by but waiting on the replacement tank my son broke.

Josh I hate to see you get out of it, why not just step down to a smaller one, you have enough livestock to make a beautiful smaller tank.

I ditto that Kevin! Just drop to a smaller tank. But don't drop the hobby completely. We are condensing our 2 bow fronts into 1 tank, due to the same reason as you have stated. So I do understand the NEED to control the power bill, but I myself could not leave the hobby, it is in my blood now.
If you decide to part it out, let us know what you want for the tank only.

Chances have it someone that leaves the hobby will rejoin and the initial expense is right back again.

I am not parting the system right now, and if/when I do, it'll be first come first served after I post the parts up for sale.
