making a chiller

Post by Amanda »

i am thinking about making a chiller for my 100 gallon i have two ideas the first is to buy one of the ice chests that are the "plug in" type and making it where the water flows through it (kinda like a sump without the filter stuff) or i could get a cheap mini refridgerator drill two holes in the side where the water would enter through tubing through the first hole then once in the fridge it coils a several times then exits through the second hole...i do have one question though what kind of tubing can i use ( aluminum, stainless maybe ??) my lowest temp is 80 and the highest is 88-89 F with the metal halide on thanks Jason

use plastic tube...metal tubes will react to the saltwater in a bad way.

Plans for DIY chiller

These seem to look pretty promising

You can get a small fridge (1.5-2cuft) at walmart or Target for around $60-70[/url]
