New tank coming...

Well I have finally broken down and bought a new tank.
After realizing that it wasn't the hobby I was getting frustrated with, but my tank style...I figured out exactly what about my old tank ticked me off. Its the completely vertical orientation of that thing! So I decided to go with a night wide tank that is closer to the same height and width (front to back). Its a 30g L and I'm trying to figure out what kind of bottom I want. I was thinking about a thin layer of 50/50 crushed coral and large particle sand. I have it drilled in the back for an overflow. and I have a 20g L that will serve as a refuge/ sump. I have a CPR SR4 skimmer (but I need the venturi valve for it). Im building the stand this week sometime. Then I need to deal with lighting. I have two ballasts, one can drive two NO bulbs and the other ballast can drive 2 VHO bulbs. Does anyone have any spare 36" T12s they dont need? I have to order them from Hellolights.com but i gotta wait till payday on the 1st. Well here it is...nothing special...

Why build a stand? I like the chair!

Think hard about not using sand for the substrate. If you don't have a refugium, you might need it to control the nitrates. JMO.

Here is the new tank coming along... Andy helped me build the stand and I built the canopy...I made the front open up all the way for easy access to everything. I still need to stain the canopy and seal everything. here are the pics

well i thought about using the ballasts I already have...2xVHO 2xNO...but i have been looking at a 4 x 55w PC retro kit from Hellolights.com. I have thought about a Compact Fluorescent+halide system but the cost is a little more than I wanna pay and I think that I will have sufficient lighting for a 30g with theCompact Fluorescent setup. I have thought about T5s...but i dont really know much about them and how they compare with the Compact Fluorescent.
