Anyone know a good local source for 72" 160watt VHO's. Aqua Works in Pensacola used to sell them @ 42/ea, wondered if anyone else had a decent source for them.. :)

Rich at PM has them for the same price. I just bought 1 6' for $42 and 2 5' for $39 to run on an Icecap 660

Oh heck, if you need some too, we could combine an order and get them way cheaper via mail-order. I'll do some searching around.

Heheheh Terry... such a joker :)

Looks like marinedepot has the best price, $31 for 50/50 and $29 for super actinic. Hellolights.com wasn't even close, unless you bought the ones w/out the internal reflectors (yuck).

Oh shoot, I'll take lots & lots in that case.

www.marineandreef.com is the cheapest I can find.
I search a dozen or so of the usual places and their initial bulb proces are a bit higher. and you get an 8% discount for ordering > 8 items.

Example :
72" white $30.00x4 $120
72" blue $28.50x4 $114
lamp box $35
8% discount -$21.52
+ ship $15.90
TOTAL $263.38

Costs per bulb for 8 bulbs, figuring 4 blue & 4 white would be: $32.92
Hey I'm all for saving 9 or so bucks a bulb :)

yeah... marine depot prices seemed to include shipping? dunno... I'd need to call and ask.

EDIT, nevermind, yeah anything over $175 is shipped free.

So what'd you need to order?

Hey if we > 6 72" bulbs the shipping will be free from marine depot
Since fluorescent bulbs require special handling and packaging, we will only ship fluorescent bulb orders of 4 or more bulbs free of shipping cost. 46.5" and longer bulbs are shipped free only if 6 or more bulbs are ordered.

I want 4, but cant decide between 2xwhite & 2xblue or 1xwhite and 3xblue, what do you think? They're mostly for supplementing the halides

What kinda MH's do you run?

If you're running 10k's, I would think three actinic and one 50/50.

offtopic: the carpet isn't doing well :( I don't think it's related to the lighting at all, he's just been kinda unhappy lately, and he's decided to get smaller and attach to the upper part of the rock (!??!) ... very weird. he's always spread out, but he's smaller, I think because he's so close to the light. MH's have been mostly off for the past 3-4 weeks now, however he was moving around before that time.
