Starfish killing my crabs?

The other day, I thought that my Sally Light Foot crab had molted and I pulled the shell out of the aquarium. I have been looking for it in the tank and cannot find it anywhere. When I found it, my brittle star had a good hold of it. Now I come home and the star is holding my new Emerald Crab, whic was fine this morning. Anyone else ever had problems with this kind of star? Mine is a red brittle star.

We had a Beautiful green brittle star that would eat anything that would stay still long enough for it to catch it.

I have lost a cleaner shrimp from one before. I noticed that it back it into a corner and started to get on top of it like he was about to eat it. I grabed the star and got it off of the shrimp, by that time the shrimp was hurt. The next day the shimp was gone and because of that the star is in a smaller tank.

No problems with my brittle star, its a black/brown deal, what you would expect from B&B normal stock. My blue hermits however tend to take out my snails and scarlets like they are a wrestling tag team.

I would think that if the brittle star got a crab it would be because he was sick.....JMO

Ours was a green brittle star and really it would eat anything it could corner or catch.
