any of you Helmet fans in any way?

they are set to release thier new albumn after 7 years in October and doing a small US tour for it.

closest to here they will be is Atlanta, Dallas and San Antonio.

I will see a show on this tour if it kills me (and it might if I remeber 8 years ago right ;) )

working on a back to back Dallas/San Antonio trip.

Any Takers?

Ouch Amy, that actually hurt a little (i think), but they say that truth does :P

471 miles will be the farthest I've gone to specifically see a show. But, oh man would it be worth it.

I think I might need to find away to drop in on my friend in San Fransico as well.

Hey, some hard core "hate" music is wonderful to listen to when you're at work. ;) Sometimes I like to not use headphones. That's always neat when someone comes in and the guy is singing

"Why are you trying to make fun of me?
You think it's funny? What the :?: (rhymes with puck) you think it's doing to me?
You take your turn lashing out at me
I want you crying when you're bloody down in front of me"

I've not heard the name Helmet since the early 90's :D

I'll admit it.......I like heavy metal. Oh well. :)

I say, go to the concert if that's what'll make you happy. I have a friend out in Tahoe who's about to embark on a 35 concert trip around Europe/England with her husband. Let's see, two tickets X 35 = 70 tickets (tickets being around, and let's go low here for the benefit of the doubt, 55 bucks apiece ) So, 55 * 70 = $3850.00 NOT including airfare, hotels, car, etc.

Probably around 10K just to go see some shows.

damn Melissa, I'm not into that kinda stuff.

well I guess some of my stuff is like that, but it's more the screamo-black metal stuff that no one can understand the lyrics anyway ;)

I've already asked off for days in the first of November. Not sure the Texas dates but they have fair warning.

Exactly. They broke oh so early, but the time is right. After eight years new material!

Not into that kind of stuff? LOL

Have you ever READ the lyrics to some of their stuff? ;)

Maybe a little angst ridden, but not overtly violent in anyway. As a refresher, I read the liner notes of all their stuff and I can't come up with anything but angry as an adjective. But, since it's anger towards the media, the industry or narrow minded peoples, I can't see lumping them into hate-core or similar genres. It's not they are Crowbar or Skinlab or anything like that.

I'm not a Helmet fan, but I did grow up on Anthrax, Metallica, Twisted Sister, etc...

Just throwing some "cross post" fun at ya!

I haven't seen a "good" concert in quite some time. When I was dating my wife 10+ years ago, we went to the Atlanta Amplitheater to see Metalica, Suicidal Tendencys, and Candle Box. I also made a road trip to Columbia to see the Stones with a friend. Since then I've seen Aerosmith & Creed (at P'cola & Bayfest).

Hope you have a good time! Remember it's not the band... it's the experience!
