That deers got issues. It's front left leg is shorter than the rest, her head is scarred up, and she's pretty thin. She's the lead doe though, and kicks the crap out of the others when they get out of line. She's also always the first to show up and the last to leave.
SNAKEMAN!... What is it?

No, in fact, it was outside of the basement when we were down there and I heard something rustling and turned around and there's this 5 ft thing slithering off to the bush....
<melissa shudders> brrrr...
I can tolerate it if it's something that will take care of vermin such as rats, mice, etc......just gotta keep the windows/doors shut so my little birds don't "go away" if you know what I mean.

It is either that or a pigmy azalea bush master. Just kidding it's a rat snake. One of your birds would make a tasty treat.

They really are harmless, I icked up a 6' one by mistake in my wood shed. I though it was a rope hanging from the wood, till I got it eye level.

I am thrilled to say it was more afraid of me than I was of him. THANK GOODNESS!

That Hawk looks alot like a Red-Shouldered Hawk, in the same family as the Red-Tailed.
I think that snake is beautiful! Great picture of his face.
Those pics are making me homesick for my log house in East Tennessee...I remember a little doe like that there, one of her front legs was missing the whole hoof at the joint, but she seemed to hang ok.
Really nice Pics.

Thanks Sue! I looked it up and that looks like the same type of hawk. I like them but am a little leary of them. We like to take our parrots outside, and don't want them to get picked up. They can have all the squirrels they can eat, just leave my birds alone

no! Not Chip and Dale! The squirrels are cute, especially when they hang upside down from their feet from the feeder.....

oh, Brandon pointed out my error....Chip and Dale are chipmunks....:S
I still think the squirrels are cute!
oh! We had a blanket hanging off the rail of the deck and yesterday I found a squirrel pulling at the tassles, trying to take the blanket with him to make up his nest. Brandon let one of the cats out and she ran at him hell bent for leather, the squirrel jumped off the side of the deck on to a tree and the cat started to go after him until Brandon yelled at her to stop. Sheesh....that would have sucked.....

I am sorry that snake would have to find a new home.... preferably somewhere in the next state.

I don't think Hawks normally bother other birds but I'd be a little nervous about it too. Guess it just depends on how hungry they are.
That snake looks awfully happy where he is..

I feel sorry for them, they do an enormous amount of good but everybody hates them. I see it all the time at work, people always want to kill them no matter what kind they are, they look at me like I'm nuts when I refuse. Kinda like spiders, I guess. Somebody has to love 'em.

I notice the same thing with my lizzards, people either love them or hate 'em.
Squirrels are a riot to watch, I used to raise orphaned small animals and birds for the vets in the area, and squirrels are just like kittens when they are little. So much charm in such a small package!
