By far the coolest fish.....

Ok, I saw it today and it wins hands down for the coolest fish. It was an Angler Fish over at Water World. Now, I'm one of those people who believe "the uglier they are the better" but this guy was awesome! He looked like a sponge sitting there in the corner of the tank, and they threw in a couple of Ghost Shrimp so I could watch him eat. Someday I'm gonna have one of those. 8)

While I was there I got a tiny pistol shrimp/goby pair, the shrimp is less than 1/2" and the Goby is about 1 1/2". They came in as a pair and are hard at work UNDER A ROCK in my tank....figures, all that money and they pick the spot where they'll be invisible!!

Anyway, the stuff they had there, although expensive (no surprise) looked better than Ive seen in some time. Just thought I'd share. Aquaria is getting there too, looking good... still have to go and get some stuff from them. Ran out of funds today

Wow, you bought something there... I've had my eyes on their gobies also but I'm just going to wait and order stuff on line. You are talking about $60 or whatever for a pair. Once they settle in you should see the goby often but probably not the shrimp if he is back under the rockwork.

You practically have to put them in a very small tank or pray they will one day make a next in the front. I keeep mine in a 5 gallon for that reason.

I found that my gobies like bigger tanks with more action. I have had two in a 26 gal tank with nothing else in and they hid all the time. In my 55 both the yasha hashi and the newest one I got both come out much more often and do not duck into their hole as fast anymore. I don't think I have the pistol shrimp anymore but i never seen then in either tank. The Yellow watchman that is in my 26 hides all the time and you never get to see him. I"m going to try to get a pistol shirmp but don't want to pay what WW is charging for them.

We have a Watchman-Pistol ... they are in a 5 gallon mini... we changed the substrate to a heavier crushed coral so the shrimp didn't keep it stirred up all the time they are about the cutest/neatest thing to watch. They had been in the tank together for a while with southdown and you couldn't ever see the tank or the inhabitants due to the silt and stirred up sand now you can watch the little pistol moving the substrate and burrowing and watch them feed. Really fun...

We are kinda limited to what we can keep in the tank due to the lighting and may up grade to a different tank eventually but right now it will have to do.

I put them in the 20 high, the little guy burrowed all over the place till he finally settled on a spot behind the rock, but out enough to see them. The substrate is a mix of oolithic and crushed coral with a good bit of rubble, but not very deep at all, I was a little concerned about that but I don't think they are. :) They actually had a pair of Watchman's in a burrow with a pistol, they were hilarious! Both of them would pop out and look at you like "What?". I would have loved to get them, but I'm notoroius for getting the smallest fish I can find.

I don't usually buy much from WW because of the prices, but they looked so good and I've always planned on getting a pair. I need to find out exactly what kind of Goby it is, haven't seen one like it before. I was gonna get a couple of Neon Gobies and a fire shrimp, so I just rationalized to myself that it was just a few dollars more and I could make it up later.......
