In a week or two I will be in the process of making some more live rock. It will take a few months for it to cure but it will turn out great. Most of the rock in my tank is rock that I made and it has a lot of coralline algae on it. If anyone wants any get up with me in a few months.

I need some more live rock!!!
Im gunna be setting up a 30-40g in the next couple of months. And possibly upgrading my puffer tank to a 20g. Any LR would be a great help! What do you use to make it?

Why not wait on Liz to sell hers? What is the time frame on that? You should get that alot cheaper than ordering and it will be in VERY good shape!

I finally got around to making some live/base rock, I bought the items to make it a month ago, but have not had the time to make it till now. Anyways here is the first batch of the rock; I am going to the feed store today to get some more supplies to make more of it. After a few months it will be ready to go into tanks. I will post some pictures later tonight of some pieces that I already have in my tank. So you can see what it will look like as a finished product.

The problem always reverts back into making the rock porous enought to equate to good quality live rock. I have tried but i was never happy with the end result.

Here are some of the rocks that I have made over a year ago. They have tons of coraline growing on them. I am pretty pleased with the end result on these rocks.

looks über great for base rock...especially when you have a large tank and want a good bit of area filled with LR. plus you can make the pieces exactly how you want them.

Hi Andy;
I would definitely be interested in some of your live rock....it looks great!
All I have is a 55 reef tank now that I would like to add a few more pieces to. I have another 55 I want to set up but that will be a freshwater tank although I am also considering setting up a 10 gallon mini-reef. Definitely keep me in mind.
Thanks,
James

How do you cure the rock? How long?

I cure it in tubs of water, changing the water at least once a week. They say it will cure in a month, but last time I made it it took several months for it to cure.

Just fresh tap water, RO water or saltwater?

The last rocks that I made I used just tap water. If anyone wants to come buy and see the rocks that I have made, let me know and I will tell you how to get to my house.

Hi Andy:
I know this is a deleyed response but with the hurricane it has been difficult. I am typing this at the library. What was in the e-mail? I am interested in the rock.
Thanks,
James
