I'm going to go diving tomorrow. Who wanted me to get them some sea urchins? I only will be able to hold them for a few days so let me know by the morning. Maybe the Jellies want be as bad as last time. If anybody is going to be free tomorrow let me know if you want to meet me down there. I'm going by myself as of right now. It's a good place to snorkel and the tide is going to be just right tomorrow. If you want to go email me your number and i'll call you in the morning. I have some extra snorkeling stuff.

Are you talking about the Ala.point rock jetties? That's like 5 minutes from my house. We have been snorkeling around them alot latley(hope to be certified soon) I was amazed to see all the blue damsels. Have you ever caught any? When was the last time you dove their? we were out there Sunday and it wasn't very good so we just hung out on the beach. There were two guys diving the seawall in between the point and the rock pile.What other types of fish/inverts have you seen that would be of any interest?

how hard are urchins to keep? Are they fairly hardy?

Yes, same place. I went diving there the sunday before last it think. I caught coral banded shrimp, doctor fish( this is a type of surgeon fish) , damsels, anemones, butterfly fish, blennies, sea horses, bur fish to name a few. There are a lot of really cool fish that would be good in a fish only tank. The damsels we have a pretty aggresive and the butterfly fish nip at corals, the doctor fish are reef safe. If you look at my gallery you can see a doctor fish I use to have that I caught there. Liz has him now he out grew my tank. ( http://www.mbrk.com/modules.php?set_alb ... _photo.php ). We will have to get together some time and go down there.

yeah they are pretty hardy, I don't like them because they knock stuff over but they would be fine in a sump.

Jason - If you find a tube anemone, I'll come out to your place and pick it up tonight or tomorrow. I'll pitch in a finder's fee. I'll take a goby/blenny if you find one that close to shore too.

I have never seen an tube anemone at Alabama point but i'll keep my eyes open.

Are there any stars out there? I recently got a pair of Harly shrimp. I'm ordering some feeder stars but was told local water stars work well also. You can cut them up and freeze them and the shrimp still eat them.

I looked the "doctor fish" up on the web. It appears to be a "Acanthurus bahianus" or also know as the "ocean surgeon". Same sub-family as the powder brown/blue tangs. What I read says they are very hardy... must be if you catch them near Alabama.
