Mobile Bay Reef Keepers

I am looking to buy or trade for some Pulsating Xenia, ricordia, leathers and hard coral frags. I don’t have much to trade for so I am mainly looking to buy, but I do have a lot of purple mushrooms.

I have some sps and a few lps corals that I can frag and sell. Let me know what you are looking for ( lps,sps or a specific coral) and I will tell ya what I have.

You might want to stick with some lower light sps unless you are planning on upgrading (if your lighting is still 2 40w N.O. an 2 110w VHO's).

I really am not looking for anything in particular, I just want a few frags that look nice that I can put throughout the tank. At the moment I have no hard corals and would have anything. Do you have any pictures of some of the corals you have.

scott what kind would you recommend. I do plan to upgrade to 4 110 vho's but it could be 6 months from now. I have a ballast to run 4 but I need to more bulbs. That is not quite in my budget yet.

I have a tank full of xenia.How much do you want?

Either a few small frags or maybe one large peace (4” or so) depending on how much you want for it.

If you make it to Pascagoula I might be able to squeeze a couple of frags out to sell.

I have a couple of used 110w VHO's. I am not sure if they are 50/50 or actinic though. If it is an Icecap ballast you can go to Home depot and get some of the 40 watt 4 foot bulbs (2 for $6.99 last time I checked). They will not be as bright as a VHO but close and I used them for several months with no ill effects.

Still without metal halides you might want to stick with sps like:
Monitpora digitata (all but purple will hod their color under VHO's)
Montipora capriconis
Seriotopora sp.
Acropora youngi (green slimer)
Poccilopora sp.

Some others will live but will stay brown and have little growth unless they are near the surface of the water.

How far are you from the malls in mobile I might be able to make it over this week. Also what kind of frags would you be selling?

The ballast that I have are 2 tar ballast that were given to me. How much would you want for the VHO’s that you have. It will probably be years before I could afford halides. In my old tank of the same lighting I was able to keep a florescent green brain with no problems, but had very pour success with a galaxy. I will have to look up some pictures of the corals you named because I have never heard of them. Thanks for the suggestions.

real close to the mall. I have all the corals scott listed if you are interested.

I have a nice purple monti cap, orange cap, red cap, green cap.. pruple rim cap, blue rim cap with blue polyps that I can frag. Also have a purple monti digitata and orange digitata.

My green slimer has gotten pretty green lately I think you would be happy with a frag of it...and slimers grow fast too. (I paid 50 bucks for my first frag ) Don't worry... I would not hit ya like that

Got some other slimers too... might wanna start with the green first though. Got some green pocilipora.

Some green trumpet coral... frogspawn should do alright.... might have some white star polys that would do ok. trying to get some blasto frags out of the tank too.... so maybe have those available.

That would give you some stuff to glue down

Give me a heads up when you are headed over this way and we will try and meet up. During the day is usually better.

They are just spares. You can have them if you want them. I will have to see how many I have.
