I am going to be moving to a new apartment in the next couple weeks and I was wondering what the best way to move my tank is. I was thinking of draining the water in to 6 gallon buckets and putting my rock and everything else in there. Then just moving the tank and then putting it all back in. is there a better or easier way to move it.

It sound like a good plan. If you can move it without disturbing the sandbed you might not have a mini cycle after the tank is set back up.

as long as you keep water moving you will be ok for a good while...couple of days...for 24hours in ac do not even need that....think of how they ship corals in from overseas or calif. Now fish I would keep a pump in or maybe air.....you can use rubbermaid tubs for break down then just move what you want ...when you want in buckets....This will give you a chance to take your time.

I just got through moving my 3 tanks at the first of june. I bagged all my fish in gallon ziploc bags. Drained the water into a cooler with rock and corals in there also and the rest in 5 gallon jugs except left enough in the tanks to keep the sand covered and it all went off without any problems. Even found a fighting conch buried in the sand bed in my 55 that i hadnt seen in probably 6 months. Started to throw the shell away until i seen it moving inside so in a bag of water she went and then back into the tank.
