Hello all.
I have pushed back my nano-reef project to setup this new tank.
I have a 10g tank with a pair of Figure-8 Puffers!!!! My friend Katie had to get this out of her parents house cause they were moving and she gave me this setup! These are the cutest little fishies!!!

Those look a lot like the saltwater ones. I love puffers.

they are in brackish water. I think the salinity is at about 24ppt. These are really cute and fun fish! I was wondering if you guys know of any BIG snails that are good in brackish water, Im already sick of the algae thats in there. I want something big..that the puffers wont eat!!! Also anyone know of any plants that would be good?

You know, you can convert those to saltwater being that they are brackish water puffers. It takes a little time, but if you know what you're doin, you can do it.

I doubt that I will try to push them to be saltwater. From what I have read about them..they seem to do better in brackish water than is salt or fresh.

You could probably get some good plants out of the bay. I know there are some big grass bed and stuff like that out there. I would try around some of the landings around the causeway.

Im not so sure that I wanna get a plant from the bay. I don't wanna risk any contaminants in that small of a tank. Ill ask around at some local fish stores.

There are a few plants you could try....Java Fern, anacharis, anubas (a great plant, low light), hornwort and water sprite/ Those are the only ones I can think of for brackish water. Java fern and anubas would be good to try in a smaller tank, caust they wont take over, gotta save a little room for the fishies...

They are really cool fish, I just get tired of people asking me what do I have to do to make them puff up. I like feeding the big dragon puffer goldfish he attacks them like the goodyear blimp. puffers are cool.
