I just sent this note to Lights of America....I am sure several have had good luck with these lights but my experience....

I purchased a Lights of America Model 9266 light and installed. After about 2mo it went out. I bought a new bulb and it did not work and I smelled smoke inside light. I drove to Mobile to purchase another light guessing I had bad luck and since it had been two months who saves receipts and boxes that long. About a two hr drive round trip. I brought the new light home and hooked up and it came on twice then it also died. Another 2hr trip to Mobile, Al. Since it had only been 24hrs I dug the box ect out of the trash. I installed this light and after 3 days I thru out the box. That was yesterday. Last night this light no longer works. It also smells like smoke inside. I am sorry your light is not worth another 2 hour trip to Mobile. So far I have purchased two of you lights and one spare bulb. (this does not count the one I exchanged). Also three 2 hour trips to Mobile and time to install. The light is in the trash...I will take the loss it is not worth the time or money to try and exchange. I am done.. I will try another brand. I suggest you change your name to Lights of Iraq. No since in bringing down the name America.

Thanks

Dang! I guess I have the "luck of the irish", never had to take one back. Yours isn't the first complaint I've heard however.

They have always been the low man in the lighting world. I use them and they seem to be ok for what you pay and do the job. But you can also tell from looking at them the craftmanship is just not there.

It is an Aqualight 24" with 2x65watt has 4 cooling fans and one actinic and one 10k light aluminum housing. He charged me $140 and he had it in stock..by the time I would have paid shipping do not think the price is too bad. For me anyway...Rich got me out of another bind...

I would like a very low wattage 10k or mixed light to go over one of my sumps. I really do not want another LOA setup, kind of overkill for my needs. I think a 15watt pc would be fine. Problem is finding one in an enclosure.

This looks like a nice light...If I wanted I could even keep couple of corals under it...and for what I would save shopping around and shipping...They do make a smaller and little dimmer light but again for the price difference...I looked at custom aquatics ect and the same basic power compact was $120 plus shipping.....shipping would have eaten up the difference....this also puts light all across the tank where loa only covers a small area.....I am happy if it does not break....I think Rich was fair....

This is what you got and he sold it to you for what you would had paid on the web without shipping.

So it is nice to be able to get it local. Fair deal if you ask me.

It looks pretty nice to me too. Plus the fact it is cooled.

It also has two on off switches and two power cords...this way you can hook up two timers ...one for each light...and stagger them
