29 Gallon overhaul

Well i know you are all thinking i have been quiet lately..or maybe not. Well the only thing that has changed around here is the 29 gallon. The seals in the tank had me worried, not much silicone left on the sides. What silicone was left was not very flexible and coming off in chunks. I got in touch with Rich and he ordered me a replacement with black seals. The corals from the tank were dispersed between a temporary 20 gallon and the half hex in the living room. I made the change over this Saturday and have water back in the tank with sand. I dried out alot of the rock to get rid of the grape macro and am in the middle of stacking the rock. I was not happy at all with the aquascaping in the 29 gallon and am trying to take my time and do it right. Pictures are coming but not until i can see into the tank, which is not right now

Letting the rock bake in the sun on the patio helped i hope. I was able to just pick it off the rock in the 26 gallon with no troubles. Doing that with the 29 gallon was not an option, so sun baking had to be done. Of course now the rock smells like a wet dog and will have to re-cure, probably for a while.

Does any species of tangs eat that type of caulerpa?

I can't grow any in my tank because the tangs eat it. It grows pretty good in the overflow though. The purple tang really likes it, but the Regal's eat it as well in mine. It's like cotton candy for tangs I think. I don't think Kevin wants to get in the tang business again though

I was about to trade you guys the same size live rock for your live rock with caulerpa. My tangs would have a feast!

Hey, what's with the anti-tang attitude? I love 'em! They's fun to watch, they knock over SPS, nip at stuff, make it harder to keep corals, oh, wait......
I still love 'em.

I love tangs.... but lets look at things in retrospect.... Ummmm we have down sized to three smaller tanks instead of one larger one actually more gallons but less size... Kevin hates the ick factor, they are agressive for the most part.... need large amounts of swimming room....
stick with the Nope... no tangs....

Yeah, I overlooked the obvious, which is that you needs LOTS of room for tangs... I wouldn't give my babies up for the world, I love 'em

Oh C'mon you need a Dori!! You could setup a nemo tank.. I've seen them at B&B and they're really cool. They had a 5 gallon setup with a Regal tang and a clownfish.. it was sweet!...
Isn't it supposed to be 1" of fish for 1 gallon.. SO you could get a couple of tangs/clowns in there..
Please don't take me seriously.....
