I'm just going to overlook you said that.. and use the clam filtering theory on why we need more clams.. plugging ears.. lalalalalalalaScott wrote:They are very vague about the details because they want you to buy the system from them
Brandon, somewhere in the theory behind the cryptic zone they discuss the filtering ability of tunicates. They claim that tunicates can filter 323 gallons of water per day. One 3 inch clam can filter 16 gallons of water per day. One mature oyster can filter 60 gallons per day. Types of clams and oysters were not specified in any of the things that I read (that I can remember).
you hear that Melissa.. Clams Filter the water, we need to get more

Seriously, I imagine that tunicates will pass a lot of water through it within a given day, but I have to wonder how much they will actually take out. I can't find any specific info on what they extract other than a general plankton/organic matter.... They're definetly built right to filter large amounts of water, could be they have to filter large amounts because they aren't very good at it? Just a thought .. I have no clue. Would they crash without suplemental feeding, I mean wouldn't they work themselves out of a job if they were really effecient in a closed environment?
Not being negative, this is just how I think.. I like to work out the problems 1st.
If you wanted to try anything with them, Snakeman is a good source for them.. He brought me back a big colony of them this last weekend and they are residing in a 10 with some other wild caught stuff.
